Tube of Choice
I used the wonderful artwork of Isamael Rac
www.xeracx.com you must have a license to use his work which you can purchase from
AMIPlease don't use the same tube I did without the proper license.
Font Of Choice
I used "All Used Up" which I got from
DaFont.comFilters: Superbladepro and
m_coconutice preset*************************
Let's Begin
Open your tube and minimise.
Open a new image 600x600 pixels
Using your preset shapes tool set to one of the default star shapes use the following settings:
Your choice of foreground colour background colour null
Anti-alias and Create as Vector CHECKED Line Style Solid Width 10
Draw out the star (or shape of your choice) once you've drawn out your shape, rotate it if you'd like.
Once you're happy with the look of it, convert this layer to raster.
repeat that process twice more so that you have three shapes on your image.
I usually like to have three slightly different sizes and one tilted to the left, one tilted to the right and one straight up and down.
Make your first shape layer active
Select all/float selection/defloat selection
while selected, use your super blade pro plugin and apply the m_coconutice preset
repeat this process for all three shape layers
make your first shape layer active
Using your magic wand, with contiguous CHECKED select the inside of your first shape
selections/modify/expand 2
select your floodfill tool and select gradient
Foreground-background gradient
angle 45
repeats 1
invert CHECKED
for the colours I selected two colours from the tube i was using.
create a new layer (while the selection still active) and floodfill the selection.
Move this layer below the original shape layer.
Repeat this process for the other two shapes.
Now you should have what looks like three filled frames.
activate the background layer under shape 1
right click in the layer palette to add a new raster layer
make your first shape layer active
Using your magic wand, with contiguous CHECKED select the inside of your first shape
selections/modify/expand 2
activate the new layer you made which should be between your original shape layer
and your background layer.
bring your tube image up
using your clone tool, right click wherever you want on your tube image.
now going back to your working image, left click and start cloning your tube image.
play around with different areas of the tube until you're happy.
repeat this process for the other two shapes.
(I suggest using different areas of the tube for each frame)
Once you have pictures in all three "frames" you may want to merge the frame pieces together, so hide all layers except the original shape layer (the frame)
the picture layer and the background layer. merge visible.
hide the newly merged layer then UNhide the next set of frame pic and background and repeat this process
You should have three layers when you're done.
Add your tube as new layer to the working image (resize if needed)
bring that layer to beneath your bottom shape layer
go to adjust/blur/motion blur
angle: 228
strength: 25
apply
effects/texture effects/mosaic-glass
number of columns 75
number of rows 75
Symmetric CHECKED
Glass Curvature 50
Edge Curvature 0
Grout Width 2
Grout diffusion 50
apply
Select the topmost layer in your image
add Tube as new layer
Arrange your mosaic layer, your shape layers and tube until you like how they fit together.
resize ( i chose to resize 75%)
crop excess
Once you add your name and all your copyright and license info... save as .png to preserve transparency... and you're done.
If you like the look of how I did my name in the sample.... keep reading.
Selecting your text tool, have the following settings
Foreground and Background colour: your colour of choice must be the same colour
size 128 points (this can vary depending on the font)
anti-alias smooth
stroke 1
create as floating
be sure that remember text is CHECKED
Type your name
right click on top bar and cut
paste as new IMAGE
back to your working image
with the same settings as before EXCEPT
change foreground and background colour to black
click anywhere on your image
your name should be saved from before so just apply
right click on top bar and cut
right click on the top bar of the image with your name
paste as new layer.
go to image/rotate left
be sure to have the black name layer active
cut (or copy) and paste it as a new layer on your working image.
place your text next to your tube.
go back to your name image and cut (or copy) your coloured name layer
paste as a new layer on your working image.
place it over your black name layer to where just a part of the black is showing so that it looks shadowed.
add copyright info
save as .png to preserve transparency.
